Our Story
Hello!
We are the Arseneaults. Our family farming journey started in the fall of 2019 (really handy timing!).
Tara's family being mostly Mennonites have been farming forever, most of her childhood memories were from growing up on an elk ranch near Grande Prairie Alberta. Core childhood memories of huge gardens, canning, eating mostly wild game and a lot of time outside.
Jon had a more diverse upbringing, born in northern Ontario, moving to Saskatchewan very young, where his family had an acreage with sheep and big gardens. Then back to Ontario, then to BC and finally to Grande Prairie Alberta where Tara locked him in. Jon comes from a long line of outdoorsman. His childhood in Saskatchewan is mostly remembered as spent outside with his trap line, tending his pumpkin patch and fishing.
After we got married Jon got a job in Whitecourt Alberta so we bought a house in Mayerthorpe, a close by farming community.
After 7 years of watching Tara digging up the backyard only to do it again and getting ducks while still in town, Jon relented and we finally bought our farm.
We have learned a lot in the last few years, a lot of what not to do but also what we enjoy works for our family and land.
Thank you for finding us and we hope to hear from you soon!

All the best! Tara and Jon
